Éric Duhaime

The Journey of a Committed Man

Having grown up in a modest family in Laval, Éric Duhaime developed an interest in politics as a teenager. The son of a bus driver and a father who held various jobs in the construction industry, he has said that from a young age he wanted to get involved in politics to give a voice to ordinary people, whom he believes are too often overlooked by the political elite.

Holding a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the Université de Montréal and a master's degree in Public Administration from the École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP), he began his career as a political advisor to provincial and federal political organizations. He later worked as an international consultant in democratic development projects in Iraq and Morocco.

He later became known to the Quebec public as a radio host and political commentator. Over the years, he earned a reputation as a maverick, never hesitating to challenge conventional wisdom, speak up when others preferred to remain silent, and actively participate in major public debates.

In 2021, he was elected leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec.

Under his leadership, the party experienced unprecedented growth. After spending more than 90 years on the margins of Quebec politics, the Conservative Party of Quebec increased its popular support from less than 1% to 13% in the 2022 general election, within a five-party political landscape. Today, the movement boasts more than 60,000 members and has established itself as a major political force in Quebec.

His Vision for Quebec and Quebecers

In April 2026, Éric Duhaime published his fifth book Destination Autonomie, in which he outlines his vision for Quebec’s future within the Canadian federation and reflects on the challenges posed by the growing centralization of power in Ottawa.

Today, he seeks to become Premier of Quebec because he believes that Quebecers are better positioned than governments to make the decisions that affect their lives, their families, and their future.

He wants to fight to ensure that Quebecers have more money in their pockets at the end of the month, that young people can save to buy a home, that workers can build retirement savings, that entrepreneurs can invest, innovate, and prosper, that families can afford their bills, that Quebecers have access to health care when they need it, and that Quebec remains the Quebec we love: French-speaking, secular, and autonomous.
